Following an incredible year of fundraising for Alzheimer’s Research UK, NEC Group is delighted to announce that a total of £44,309.92 has been raised for the charity.

The Group, which operates the NEC, ICC, Resorts World Arena, Arena Birmingham and the Vox venues, plus supporting businesses The Ticket Factory, Amadeus and Amplify, raised the money through a series of fundraising events throughout the year.

The Charity of the Year was nominated by NEC Group employees at the start of 2018 from a list of nominated charities.

Engaging employees and visitors, funds were raised from bucket collections, charity quizzes and seasonal activities.

Over the year, NEC Group has helped to increase awareness of dementia and Alzheimer's Research UK, and the amount raised will contribute in funding ground-breaking research projects across the UK and beyond to help find a cure for dementia.

There are currently 11,000 people living with dementia in Birmingham and 850,000 across the UK. Despite this, there are currently no treatments that slow or stop the underlying diseases that cause dementia, with the most common being Alzheimer’s disease
