Amadeus Food scoops top industry award for event catering

Amadeus Food, part of the NEC Group, cemented themselves as top event caterers at the annual FSM Awards on Monday, 23rd November, as they picked up the prestigious Event Caterer award.

The accolade, awarded to General Manager of External Events for Amadeus Samantha Bates, recognises those that excel within the events sector of the contract catering industry.

Samantha ensures the Amadeus high standards for superior food and service across events of all sizes is met on a consistent basis. Speaking after the collecting her award Samantha said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It was a complete shock and to win when you know you are up against the best in the business is a real privilege.”

She added, “I have to thank my team, without them we wouldn’t be able to deliver the exceptional events we do throughout the year.” Samantha oversees events run by Amadeus throughout the UK from inception to delivery and breakdown. This can be Greenfield events where everything has to be set up from scratch – all delivered by the Amadeus team – or at external venues.

Samantha has been with Amadeus for over 20 years and has gained a wealth of experience in venue and event catering. She has focussed solely on the events side of the business since managing Amadeus’ catering operation at Olympic Park North in 2012.

Whether she’s catering for the general public at a live event or for a fine dining banquet for Heads of State, Samantha leads her team to ensure they provide a tailored, quality solution for each and every client.

Managing Director of Amadeus, Kevin Watson, was delighted for Samantha and success at this year’s awards, saying “Samantha was a well-deserved winner at the FSM Awards. I believe our success in this area can be fully attributed to the dedication, talent and hard-work of Samantha and her team who work relentlessly throughout the year to deliver wonderful events on behalf of Amadeus.”

Amadeus food was also shortlisted for Executive Chef of Year for Simon Hellier at the International Convention Centre (ICC) and the Sports and Leisure award for Annie Monnox, General Manager of the Genting Arena.

Kevin continued, “I’m extremely proud of all our nominees. To be up against the best in competitive industry in the three very different categories of event catering, retail and fine dining shows that as a contract caterer we have the flexibility to deliver quality food for any occasion.”

The industry leading FSM Awards bring together over 400 of the contract catering elite to pay tribute to those outstanding individuals who have been shortlisted.
