It’s been revealed that Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow sold out gig at the Genting Arena on 25 June 2016, attracted customers from over 33 countries!

The sold out show at the 15,700 capacity arena in Birmingham, UK, was Blackmore’s only UK date, and just one of three in Europe.

Celebrating the era-defining music of Rainbow and Deep Purple, Blackmore entertained fans, with many travelling in from across the globe.  The highest number of ticket buyers were understandably from across Great Britain, however, the Arena’s primary ticketing agency, The Ticket Factory, also handled transactions from countries including France, Spain, Norway, Malta, Israel and Greece.  Some dedicated fans even travelled from the USA, Japan and Australia to catch their idol live on stage.

The 7th highest number of transactions on the list was from Germany, the host country of Blackmore’s other two European dates.

General Manager of the Genting Arena, Guy Dunstan, said:  “It was a great privilege for Blackmore to choose our venue for his one UK show.  The promise of it being an un-missable event really rang true with fans, and shows the great international pull Blackmore and his music has.

“Our proximity to Birmingham International Airport clearly was a big seller for us, evidenced by the range of nationalities that came together to enjoy the night. Having already scheduled dates for Justin Bieber, The Who, Simply Red, and Black Sabbath to name but a few, we look forward to welcoming other high profile shows like this to Birmingham in the future.”

Blackmore is universally acknowledged as a singular and visionary talent, one who has helped shape and define the landscape of rock music and the evolution of the guitar at its core.  With a background immersed in classical and R & B he was a founding member and driving force of Deep Purple, going on to form Rainbow in 1973, who went on to sell in excess of 28 million albums.
