Pop-up afternoon tea concept opens in the library of Birmingham

Located on the third floor of the library The Ribbon Room gives city centre visitors the chance to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and retreat in to a wonderful, whimsical world where toadstools, teapots and characters from childhood classics adorn the walls.  Inspired by the surroundings of literature and history, the aptly named Ribbon Room is a hidden space within the unique library.

The Ribbon Room pop-up concept is the brainchild of Amadeus and looks to use the unique setting of the library, history and literature and serves Cream Tea (Scones and tea) at £6.45 per person and Afternoon Tea (sandwiches, scones, cake and tea) for £14.95 per person, with a glass of champagne available from £5.95.  Kevin Watson, Managing Director of Amadeus, said: “Our two permanent cafes in the Library of Birmingham are doing very well so we thought we’d create a  new concept on the third floor and try something unique, exciting and innovative – as that lies at the heart of everything we do. 

“The Ribbon Room name is derived from the ribbon in a type-writer, while the décor is inspired by secret gardens and fictional characters. This unique offering has been designed to attract a wide audience – from being a respite for people studying, a pit-stop for shoppers, a celebration lunch for groups of friends, something different to an ordinary sandwich for city workers, a meet-up for book clubs and more.”

The Ribbon Room is open from Monday to Saturday 12-4pm for a limited time only. Booking is highly recommended and can be done by calling 0121 644 6043.
