NEC Group Statement on HS2 Announcement

Paul Thandi, CEO of the NEC Group said:

The NEC Group fully supports the High Speed 2 project as it presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to drive economic growth and prosperity for the country.  It will encourage a shift to train travel, maximise economic growth opportunities and reduce traffic impact on the surrounding areas to our venues.

The regional towns and cities along the planned route through to and beyond Manchester will see material economic benefit, through the creation of job opportunities plus economic movement of workforce.  Constructing this spine up the country will demonstrate to the rest of the world that we are a strong, open and an investible economy.

It’ll also significantly enhance the development potential for the NEC Campus - one of the best-connected commercial sites in Europe – and its ambitious plans to create an impressive live, work, rest and play district within the broader UK Central umbrella.
