Leading live events business, NEC Group has appointed Claire Bond as Group HR Director.
Claire has been with the Group for five years – most recently championing an award-winning people development strategy as Head of Business HR and Learning Development. During this time, she has taken a key role in introducing new talent programmes and reward schemes catering for all levels of the business as well as using the introduction of the apprenticeship levy to lead her team to create diverse entry points into the Group for all career pathways – from IT to rigging.
Her strong track record has been delivered to a backdrop NEC Group successfully transitioning from public sector ownership with Birmingham City Council to a £307m management buy-out backed by private equity specialists, LDC in 2015.
Claire also brings a wealth of industry experience across both stalwart blue-chip companies and start-up and expanding businesses – cutting her teeth at KPMG and taking a key people-related role at the launch of Co-operative Group’s legal services arm – growing the business from launch to 500 employees and to what is now also a multi-million-pound enterprise.
Commenting on the appointment, John Hornby, Chief Operating Officer, NEC Group said:
“Claire was our stand-out choice to promote into this role. She’s highly credible and has played a key role in landing a range of business-critical initiatives including our high-performing talent programme. We value both her strategic counsel and her capacity to roll up her sleeves and get things done – making her an excellent cultural fit for NEC Group.”
Claire Bond, HR Director, NEC Group added:
“I’m excited to take on this role during a time of high growth in an already dynamic business. My priorities are to support our people at all stages of their careers with us, keep our robust employee engagement levels on their upward course and contribute to our proven strategic plans as we further develop the Group.”
Claire takes over from Jane Jarvis who recently chose to step down from the role after six years at NEC Group.
