May Bank Holiday weekend (29th), the Genting Arena played host to its first multi-stage music festival at the NEC Campus in Birmingham.

The event was part of a series of three to take place that weekend. The remaining events took place in Leeds City Centre and The Forum, Hatfield.

The team behind the Genting Arena secured the contract to host the event this year, which moved from its previous home in Wolverhampton to its new location- doubling the capacity of the event.

Taking place across eight stages throughout the Genting Arena, the neighbouring Pavillion, exhibition halls and outdoor areas, the one day event was attended by over 13,000 festival-goers.

The event marked the 10th Anniversary of the festival, with performances from New Found Glory, Of Mice & Men and headliners Panic! At The Disco and included an official onsite after-party organised by Birmingham based club brand UPRAWR.

SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL has won ‘Best Festival’ at the Kerrang! Awards in both 2014 and 2015. Widely regarded as the biggest awards in rock, the festival beat strong competition from major events such as Reading /Leeds and Download. Slam Dunk has also been in the final shortlists for ‘Best Metropolitan Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards, in 2013, 2014 & 2015.

Head of Venue Sales, Ian Congdon, said: “It was a big decision for Slam Dunk to move to the Genting Arena site and a new and creative use of the space at the NEC Campus, so we had to ensure that all aspects of the transition to our venues went smoothly. The venue and promoter teams’ combined efforts resulted in a successful day, the biggest attendance on record for a Midland’s site, and proved how well they can adapt to various event formats.”

Promoter Ben Ray said: “As soon as I had looked around the venue I knew it would be perfect for the event. A massive thank you to all the venue staff to make the move there as smooth as possible and deliver such a great event."
