Dubella Lounge to open

Dubella Lounge has been announced as the latest occupant of the newly created retail units at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.

Five retail units were built along the canal side of the Arena as part of the £26million redevelopment to increase the catering offering for visitors, as well as to create a link between the venue and city centre for passers-by.

Dubella Lounge will offer an extensive café-bar menu in a 2,640 sq. ft. contemporary setting, similar to that of its principal restaurant based in Sutton Coldfield.

This is the latest lease agreement for the retail units, secured on behalf of the landlord by leading national property advisor, Bilfinger GVA.

Alastair Robertson-Dunn, Director of Retail said: “As one of Birmingham’s leading leisure and entertainment destinations, it’s important that we find occupiers that will appeal to the wide-range of visitors that are attracted to the Arena. Dubella Lounge represents a complementary addition to both the other leisure units along the canal front and also to the profile of the Barclarycard Arena.”

Other occupants already trading at the Arena include Spanish restaurant chain La Tasca, Ed’s Easy Diner and Costa Coffee.

Phil Mead, Managing Director of Arenas at the NEC Group, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dubella Lounge to the Barclaycard Arena.  It is a great opportunity for a local independent business to operate alongside national chains in such a vibrant destination.

“We’ve already seen a year on year increase on events held at the Arena since the redevelopment.  These are encouraging results which forecast very positive future prospects for the Barclaycard Arena and its retail units.”

The addition of Dubella Lounge to the retail line up at the Barclaycard Arena leaves just one restaurant opportunity remaining, with an operator likely to be selected over the summer.
