The International Convention Centre (ICC) Birmingham has won the Silver Award for ‘Best UK Conference Centre’ as sister venue The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) wins the Gold Award for ‘Best Overseas Conference Centre’ at the Meetings and Incentive Travel (M&IT) 2016 Awards.

Nick Waight, who as Managing Director of the ICC and CEO of The CCD manages both venues, commented: “We are delighted to have been named as one of the Best UK Conference Centres at the M&IT awards. As the ICC is on the cusp of its 25th anniversary, it remains the busiest conference centre in the UK, hosting over 350 events for around 300,000 delegates annually. This amounts to a staggering 7.5 million delegates over its 25 year history. We are now in the midst of a multi-million pound venue refurbishment which will not only strengthen our position in the market but further enhance our customers’ experience.”

On The CCD’s fantastic win for the fifth consecutive year, Nick added: “We are thrilled to have received this award for the fifth time and are truly humbled as it represents an immense endorsement from the UK market. We were once again against some strong international competition and we are sincerely grateful to all who voted for us. It means a lot to our team in Dublin whose commitment to exceptional service continues to deliver events that surpass our clients’ expectations time and time again.”

The M&IT awards are designed to recognise excellence in the industry and are voted for by event organisers and readers of Meetings and Incentive Travel magazine. The event was held at Battersea Evolution in London on Friday 26th February and attended by more than 1,200 industry professionals.
