Legendary music icon, Céline Dion has wowed audiences across Europe this summer, playing to sell-out crowds and garnering rave reviews for her CÉLINE DION LIVE 2017 Tour - her first European tour in over eight years.  Celine played 25 shows in 15 cities across the UK and Europe, with the final show having taken place in Glasgow on the 5th August.

Her two dates in Birmingham, UK, promoted by Marshall Arts Ltd, AEG Presents and Concerts West, generated the two highest single night gross takings in history at the venue.  The date on 27 July grossed £1.5m which was the highest ever at the venue; the return date on 3 August grossed £1.4m, the second highest.  Combined, the two shows generated a staggering £2.9million gross revenue and played to 23,865 fans at Barclaycard Arena-operated by the NEC Group.

One of the most successful and widely respected female performers in music history, Céline’s return to Europe this summer was the first since her 2008 “Taking Chances’’ World Tour, which became the second highest-grossing tour by a solo artist.

John Meglen, President and co-CEO, Concerts West said "Audiences in Europe this summer got a chance to find out what visitors to her long-running residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas already know: Céline gets better with every performance.  After massive shows in Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands, and sold out football stadiums across France, Céline wrapped up with a record-setting run through the UK, with multiple nights in Leeds, Birmingham, London and Glasgow.  We could not be more proud of this uniquely strong and talented performer.  She really is the voice of our lifetime."

Ian Congdon, Head of NEC Group Arena sales added: “These figures prove why the City of Birmingham continues to be a key destination on the domestic and international touring circuit.  Céline played one date with us in 2008, so selling for two in 2017, highlights just how strong our current arenas market is in the Midlands, and that we’re located in a city that can sell a high volume of tickets, quickly.

It has been an honour to host Céline and her team this Summer, and the shows were nothing less than incredible- a testimony to her enduring popularity. The first date blew all records out of the water, the second, generated the second highest gross at the venue in our history.  We are very much looking forward to her return again soon.”
