The topic of arena security led discussions at the 20th annual European Arenas Association meeting, hosted by the NEC Group Arenas in Birmingham, UK.
From 20-21 April, the 30 attendees from member countries across Europe joined together for a range of seminars and workshops, providing a forum for the discussion and development of new ideas and industry best practice. There was also a strong theme of redeveloping arenas, using the host venues- Barclaycard Arena and Genting Arena- as case studies, of where an excess of £55m has been spent on venue upgrades.

Day One was dedicated to the Security Seminar, the first to be held by the EAA and included representatives from national security providers and the West Midlands Counter Terrorism unit. The day provided an insight into security advancements and what arenas should be doing to safeguard against security breaches.

The two-day meeting also incorporated tours around the NEC Group venues.
