DOLLY PARTON has been forced to postpone her upcoming U.S. tour due to a back condition. Doctors have advised the iconic American singer, songwriter, film star and entrepreneur to take six to eight weeks off in order to recover properly. Please Note: This does NOT affect any of the European Dates, which are going ahead as scheduled.

The tour--in support of DOLLY's BACKWOODS BARBIE album, due out February 26 on Dolly Records--was set to kick off February 28 in Minneapolis, MN.

In a statement, DOLLY said: "I know I have been breaking my neck and bending over backwards trying to get my new Backwoods Barbie CD and world tour together, but I didn't mean to hurt myself doing it! But hey, you try wagging these puppies around a while and see if you don't have back problems. Seriously though, the doctors said I will be good as new in a few weeks, and I can't wait to get back out there. See you soon, Dolly."

Dolly performs at The NIA on 2 July 2008. Dolly Parton has written over 3,000 songs, had numerous number 1 hits and won countless Grammy Awards, Country Music Awards and Amercian Music Awards, not to mention enough gold and platinum albums to make even the folks at “Tiffany’s” blush.

Inducted as a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Dolly Parton is the most honored female country performer of all time. Achieving 25 RIAA certified gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, she has had 25 songs reach number 1 on the Billboard Country charts, a record for a female artist. She has 41 career top 10 country albums, a record for any artist, and she has 110 career charted singles over the past 40 years.

Always dreaming and always looking forward, Dolly is busier than ever. Writing the music and lyrics for the upcoming Broadway musical version of 9-5, working on various children’s projects, and writing and recording a new album, “Backwoods Barbie,” which set for release in February 2008; these projects are just a few of her many interests at the moment. The phenomenon of Dolly Parton continues to flourish, as she remains one of world’s true superstars. The brand new album, Backwoods Barbie, is out February 2008.
