The Piazza first opened its doors on 2 February 1976

The first phase of the refurbishment of the Piazza has included:
• New flooring
• New ceilings
• New toilet facilities
• Refurbishment of the organisers’ offices
• Decoration in centre core
• Refreshed main entrance

During the Piazza refurbishment we used:
• Over 6,000 square metres of terrazzo
• 200 tonnes of cement
• 600 skips
• 3,000 square metres of carpet
• 400 tins of paint cans
• One third of a mile of light boxes

There were over 500 deliveries
And over 750 people worked on the project
This part of the project costs £8 million
