UK DRONE SHOW TO RETURN TO THE NEC

07 July 2016 Sophia Charalambous

Following a hugely successful launch show in 2015, the UK Drone Show will return to Birmingham’s NEC from 3-4 December 2016 and is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

The UK Drone Show is Europe’s largest gathering of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) and drone pilots, enthusiasts and professionals; bringing together the best in consumer drone technology and FPV (first-person view) racing.

The 2015 show welcomed 6,500 visitors but over 8,000 are expected in 2016 which has led the organisers to double the hall space, utilising another of the NEC’s flexible halls.

The show will include a whole of host of new features aimed at enhancing the visitor experience, including; an RC (Remote Controlled) Car Zone with indoor car racing and live drone workshops; an Innovation Zone featuring the best in drone RC start-ups and inventors; a ‘smart home’ showcase from Avensys; an exhibition for Drone Film and Photography and a Drones@Work Zone showcasing the commercial uses of drone technology.

This is all in addition to last year’s popular features, such as indoor drone racing, major manufacturer exhibition stands and a massive retail zone where visitors can purchase drones, RC cars and camera gear.

Richard Wright from UK Drone Show, said: “We were delighted with the success of last year’s show and are determined to make it even better this year with new features and products that will add a whole new element to the experience of our visitors. The NEC offers us a flexible space which enables us to grow, and we hope to continue to use more and more of this space in the future.”

Commenting on the show’s return, Louise Cash, Account Manager at the NEC, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the UK Drone Show back to the NEC following a hugely successful launch in 2015. On average, exhibitions that launch at our venue grow by 33% in year two and 17% in year three and we expect to see the UK Drone Show experience this level of growth and success. We look forward to working with the organisers to help make sure this happens.”
