Record-breaking year of fundraising

The NEC Group has presented a cheque for almost £37,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support following a record-breaking year of fundraising.

The Group, which operates the NEC, ICC, Genting Arena, Barclaycard Arena and the Vox venues, plus supporting businesses The Ticket Factory, Amadeus and Amplify, raised more than it has ever done before.

Funds were raised through a range of events from cake sales to Christmas jumper days to bucket collections at events.  Efforts also included an Amadeus ‘Fun Raiser’ event – a sit down meal, auction and entertainment held in The Foundry restaurant at the Barclaycard Arena.

The cheque - for a total of £36,861.75 - was presented to the Macmillan team at the NEC Group’s annual Brilliance Awards. At the same event, it was announced that Cancer Research UK was the Group’s new Charity of the Year for 2017, as voted for by Group employees.

NEC Group CEO, Paul Thandi said: “I’m proud of what all staff teams and service partners have collectively achieved over the course of the last year and it’s been a privilege for us to support Macmillan Cancer Support. We hope to build on this year’s efforts and raise even more in 2017 through fun and innovative fundraising initiatives to support the pioneering work done by Cancer Research UK.”
