The brand-new zone provided visitors with the opportunity to enjoy ride-on vehicle demos of the latest emission-free models from BYD and Alexander Dennis (BYD ADL Enviro400EV electric double-deck bus), London Hire (LDV EV80 electric minibus), and Pelican Bus and Coach / Yutong (Yutong E10 electric single-deck bus).

Running from 2-3 October, the leading coach, bus and accessibility event in the UK took over Halls 17-19, plus outdoor space of the leading event venue.  Visitors were among the first to see a host of new innovations and to check out the next wave of vehicles, technology, equipment, accessories and business services from 192 exhibitors.

Helen Conway, Event Director, said: “Based on feedback from our industry suppliers and visitors, we stepped up our sustainability efforts to also include the opportunity to ride on some of the most environmentally friendly fleet vehicles in the market.

“That proved to be a very welcome addition to Coach & Bus UK. It complemented a wide range of other opportunities to discover the industry’s latest developments, including an autonomous bus demonstration, the Innovation Challenge and The Theatre.”

Sonya Cox, NEC Account Manager, added: “With sustainability firmly at the top of the NEC’s agenda, it felt like the perfect match for us to support Coach & Bus UK on this new zone.  As part of our ongoing NEC Sustain programme we can already boast zero to landfill on our waste, have now installed electric vehicle chargers in car parks and are looking into using more electric vehicles ourselves across campus. The more we can support shows in their efforts, the more we can make the world of exhibitions more environmentally friendly.”

Euro Bus Expo, the sister event to Coach & Bus UK, will return to the NEC in November 2020.  For more information visit www.eurobusxpo.com
