The space in the NEC’s pavilion was transformed to include fitting rooms, clothing rails, a briefing room and a media centre as well as a ‘walk of fame’ area.

The National Exhibition Centre (NEC) hosted the Team GB ‘kitting out’ event ahead of the Baku 2015 European Games which are set to take place from 12-28 June. 160 athletes competing across 19 different disciplines at the Games descended on the Birmingham venue to try on and collect their kit.

Team GB get kitted out at the NEC!

Kathryn James, Managing Director at the NEC, said: “We are delighted to have welcomed Team GB to the NEC and played a small part in what I am sure will be an exciting and successful European Games. The Olympic spirit in this country hasn’t faded since London 2012 and we are looking forward to welcoming Team GB back ahead of Rio 2016 for a similar but much larger scale event.”

Georgina Harland, Team GB Head of Sport and Athlete Services for the Baku 2015 European Games and an Olympic bronze medallist in modern pentathlon, said: ""There are a number of key criteria that need to be fulfilled for Team GB to be able to smoothly carry out the kitting out process for our athletes. This ranges from space to accommodate 22,510 units of kit to easy access from all over the UK and abroad. At the NEC we found a perfect fit. Over 300 athletes and support staff have received their Team GB kit over the last eight days and have had a brilliant experience here in Birmingham. They will head over to the inaugural European Games in Baku mid-June fully focused on delivering the best possible performance at the Games."
