What services does The NEC offer?
The NEC offers a whole different range of services that will cater for telephony, data, audio and video. These services include (but is not limited to):
  • Analogue telephone lines, with phone and fax services.
  • Digital telephone lines, including advanced options such as voicemail.
  • ISDN lines.
  • Stand to stand network connections.
  • High bandwidth dedicated Internet Access.
  • Phone rental.
  • Fax rental.
  • PC rental.
Can I bring my own equipment and will it work on The NEC's network?
Yes, you can bring your own equipment however the NEC makes no guarantee that it will work on our network. For information on configuring your equipment please contact one of our technical representatives.
Is my analogue line the correct service if all I want to do is access the Internet?
Although you can use an analogue line for Internet access, you will receive far better performance if you use our 'Direct Internet Access' product (this will require a PC/laptop equipped with a network card). Please call our Sales team on +44 (0) 870 761 0002 for further details.
Can I use a fax machine while I am exhibiting?
Yes. As long as you have ordered an analogue line you can use a fax. The NEC supplies analogue services that are fully compatible with fax machines. Plain paper fax machines are available for hire from The NEC.
What sort of ISDN connection is presented?
We will provide a single CAT5e cable. This will allow you to run 1 x 128k channel. A cable splitting device can be supplied at additional cost if you wish to run two different services simultaneously.
Do you supply ISDN Routers?
Yes, these can be hired and configured upon request.
What do I need to use an ISDN line on my computer?
You will need to have an ISDN terminal adaptor attached and configured to your PC. We do not provide these.

Where can I expect to find my cables?
When we lay your cables, we will pull them to the nearest hall duct, as indicated by you on the order form. It is YOUR responsibility to advise the stand builder to consider the presence of cabling during stand construction.
Do you have an Internet firewall?
No. We provide a raw feed to the Internet, meaning there are no limitations on the type of services you can run. However, this also means that you must take steps to ensure that your systems are secure and protected from attack by viruses and other malicious programs. The NEC makes no guarantees regarding network security of any sort.
Can I bring my own wireless network?
Yes, but please be aware that any number of other exhibitors may also have their own wireless networks. The NEC makes no guarantee of service availability or quality; neither can any support be offered.
Can you supply a secure connection so I can create a network between different stands?
Yes, we have successfully created this type of network, called a VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) for many customers. Please call our Sales team on +44 (0) 870 761 0002 for more details.
I'd like to be able to connect to my company's IT systems from my stand. Is this possible?
Of course, we have successfully set up and managed secure links from the NEC into company networks across the world. Please call our Sales team on +44 (0) 870 761 0002 for more details.
How will you supply my Internet connection?
Your equipment must be capable of connecting to a standard RJ45 Ethernet connection. A PC or laptop fitted with a standard network card will suffice.
Can I rent a PC directly from The NEC?
Yes you can. We have a range of PC's and printers available for hire. Please contact us for details.
